And to add to my early post about hidden ID's, has anyone ever

considered that this issue may cause a lot of buyer suspicion and

animosity toward sellers in general here simply because buyer's

who bid on some auctions have been blinded in terms of

being able to see who they're bidding against...?

And of course, this all goes to issue of this outrageous new feedback policy.

Talk about fostering a hostile buying and selling environment.

Just how stupid does eBay think I am?

I'm in! I've also posted it at my message board - true, it's an anime site but people there buy on eBay a LOT, as well as sell their extra collectibles.

eBay's going to lose all 'the little people' - what I usually

do here is buy a giant lot of collectibles to get the one single one

I want, then turn around and resell the rest to get more money

to collect ...all over again. If I can't do that here I'll take my

business to amazon or someplace else.

eBay is not infallible, they're also

NOT THE ONLY PLACE OUT THERE.

We have to spank them to get their attention. They've become such an unruly child. x3

Yes Ecrater is someone what hard to navigate and there categories

are almost funny how poor they are at separating what you want

from what you dont, but hopefully it will come along. Our company

would work with OLA but they dont openly say they have a fixed

price section. Plunderhere doesnt either you have to look

around for it. iOffer is 2nd in the online selling market

but i wonder what the sell through rate is......

I just had 2 emails form boycotters regarding the way I left a 'BOYCOTT'

announcement in my feedbacks to buyers and sellers lately

[except the last 3 Mexico sales] ... others are doing it, too.

Click my feedback to see ..it IS WORKING!

eBay states that it will not remove feedback.... and if

they removed my Glorious Feedback that I left the

memeber, along with the Boycott message, I would let them know that!

I CALLED THE NEW FEEBAY B&M MALL AND HERE"S WHAT HAPPENED
braveirene (139 ) View Listings | Report Feb-21-08 07:33 PST
Once upon a time....I called the office of the feeBay Mall to see a

bout opening a store there. Here's the transcript of my side of the conversation

"Good Morning, I'd like to open a store at your Mall"

"Yes, I understand you are just a venue, that'll be great"

"You want my credit card number first so that I can register...

well OK, here it is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. OK, so I'm all set?"

"You want an up front fee for everything I bring into the store?"

"Ok, and then you want a cut of everything I sell, I thought you were a venue"

"Oh, you are just a venue, but then you want me to use your bank that's

not a bank to process my customers' payments?"

"What? Sometimes I'll have to let the customer leave the store with the merchandise

and afterwards you'll notify me that your bank that's not a bank is holding my funds

for 21 days or until the customer calls in to say they like it. Is there anything else I should know?"

"As customers leave my store YOU will poll them to see what their reactions were -

something called DSRs - and then you'll charge me more to sell my merchandise

if they rate me me as merely good - 4 out of 5 DSR stars, anything else?"

"Oh, and you get to hang a RED BANNER warning my

customers that I have problems outside my store if my

DSR scores are only 4 out of 5, in other words merely what you call good?

My goodness, is there anything else?"

"AND you'll place other merchant's merchandise in front of my

store so that my customers see it first, and then my RED BANNER?"

"What else could your venue possibly do for me?"

"Oh, from time to time you'll let a deadbeat shoplifter come back

in to slap me around in front of my other customers, and all I can do is say how much I liked it"

"I see. Let me get this straight, you are just a venue but

YOU collect a fee everytime I offer something for sale,

YOU collect a fee everytime I sell something, YOU REQUIRE that

I process payments through your bank-thats-not-a-bank, YOU ask my

customers how I did on your scale that they don't understand, YOU get

to hang a RED BANNER in front of my store if my DSRs are merely

GOOD, YOU get to place other merchant's wares in front of my store,

and YOU will bring in shoplifters and deadbeats to slap me around

with no recourse. Do I have this right so far?"

I also feel that I can no longer afford to sell anything on eBay. So many buyers

just want to have their "hand on" some new stuff to satisfy their lust of pocessing

something (even for just a day or two) and return later when they get bored on

what they have purchased on eBay. Why we eBay sellers HAVE TO refund

for these kind of jerks who are just abusing our return policy!!!!!

I've been with ebay since 2000 and have enjoyed shopping here. I am more

of a buyer than a seller but I have sold a few things here also. I was

informed of the strike by some of my family members who ebay for

no reason restricted them. Funny thing about their restriction is not

even customer support could find out the reason. I was interrested

on a few items on ebay and had them on my watch list but I removed

all watched items Sunday afternoon. I support the strike for as

long as it takes. I pledge not to buy or sell beyond the 25th of Feb.

Just one more towards the 18,000!

aikoreverb  (424 ) View Listings | Report

February 20th I ended all selling on eBay and closed my eBay store.

I'll keep checking in, but won't consider re-opening the eBay store

until this Fall. Here is an interesting little blurb I got in the email this morning:
EBay Boycott Begins

(FORTUNE Small Business) -- Monday marked the start

of a week-long eBay boycott organized by sellers outraged

at the auction site's recent fee and policy changes - an effort whose success

will be hard to gauge until later in the week.

Third-party industry tracking sites, such as medved.net and

PowerSellersUnite.com, show that live auction listings on

eBay.com have dropped about 3% since the strike's Monday kickoff,

from 14.5 million to around 14 million items.

An open letter to ebay:

February 21, 2008.

Dear Ebay,

The fee increase advertised as a fee decrease was not only a slap in the face,

but the biggest insult to the intelligence of the ebay selling community ever.

It served to show just how far the management of ebay has removed itself

from the old style online trading community once advertised as a 'family'.

Ebay was founded on the idea of a community of collectors, sellers, traders,

and buyers, working together to bring about a pleasant and equitable

transaction of goods. But I would venture to guess that the powers

that be have forgotten from whence they came.

Instead of remembering the first years of growth while we all traded

or sold our duplicate Pez dispensers or our GI Joe's with the kung

fu grip amongst ourselves, you have chosen to look down on us and

proclaim us as no longer a part of your idea of what an online

community of sellers and buyers should be. Why else would you

lie to us and advertise an actual increase in fees as a 'decrease' in fees,

and take away our right to leave feedback appropriate to our trading partner.

You recently ran a large advertising campaign that said "it" is coming. I wondered

what "it" was and could hardly wait until the day "it" was to be revealed. Finally

"it" was revealed,... "it" was everything!
If you needed "it", "it" could be found on ebay.

Sheer genius as an advertising catch word. But now "it" is getting harder and harder

to find, as many of your sellers are making a mass exodus to the other online auction

companies thanks in part to your unwillingness to even run these new changes by us and let us have some input on them.

An old proverb states:

There once was a tiny tree that struggled to get sunlight and rain amongst all of the

other large trees in the forest. But the tree kept trying to survive, and with each passing

year grew larger and larger until it was so large it towered above all of the other trees in

the forest. It thought it had need of nothing, and was tired of being

held in place, so it pulled mightily until it broke free from its roots and fell to the

earth. And there it lay until a farmer saw it and cut it in many pieces and built himself a beautiful new house.

You are acting just like that mighty tree that thought it no longer had need of its own roots.

Not only has the strike become much larger than you had anticipated, but even

BUYERS are jumping on board and pledging not to buy until things are put back the way they were.

I personally know of several HUGE power sellers,
one with annual sales of around $3,000,000 MILLION dollars, and another who has ended

15,000 + items for sale in their store who are standing with us in the strike.
And that is just the few I know about.

Untold thousands have already closed their stores, and many more will shortly do so.

Thousands of former sellers, from gold power sellers down to the mom & pop

operations have already left ebay for the other online auction sites, who have recorded

record registrations since the new changes took effect on February 20th.

Mr. Donahoe, are you sure your actually working for ebay?

The strike has garnered world wide support,
with many sellers in other countries like Spain, Germany, India, and many

more countries also striking against the new changes.

The strike is not limited to sellers, but buyers both in the United states, and all

around the world are also vowing not to buy on ebay until the planned changes are reversed.

Media coverage grows larger day by day, and with plans to continue the strike well

beyond the original strike date, more news outlets will be covering the strike.

Ebay stock holders will start to see their stock fall by substantial increments unless

something is done in short order to remedy the mass exodus and boycott.

So I ask you ebay, have you become too big for your own roots?

Sincerely,

ONE unhappy camper.

i wonder how many of the joyfully oblivious, those that have no idea what's really going,

have started listing MORE items, buying into what they were told... they were getting a fee

the listing count from plummetting at a steeper rate (and account for a (VERY)small uptick today).
